Target Audience

This workshop is designed to engage senior managers in applying the John Kotter 8 Step Process for Leading Change. The participants work in teams to achieve a practical outcome on a live project over the course of the workshop, using a live theatre-based AKT scenario set in a 5 star executive hotel environment. The participant teams take the learning from the drama to apply the 8 Kotter steps in turn between the scenes as the narrative unfolds. The themes of the drama offer a credible context to the change management process and enabling participants to create a positive outcome to the potential pitfalls within.


Dir. of Services: My team would prefer to just do their jobs rather than engage in all this culture and vision nonsense. I started off as an apprentice and worked my way up all over the country to here. I’ve seen so many places try the same thing and it rarely works, do you know why?

Head Waiter: Why?

Dir. of Services: Because everyone needs to be onboard, if you have a few or even one major influence in the wrong direction then it fails. Plus, it’s never explained properly, most people just want to do their job and go home, there’s never any real explanation about what’s in it for them. All I’ve ever heard is-you need to do this, you need to do that, you need to change X,Y & Z.

Head Waiter: I suppose his argument would be that the right attitude can make us do our jobs even better.

Dir. of Services: Yeah I understand that in theory but how do I translate that to my team?
